Slow and steady wins ninth place

I ran in my first race last Saturday – it was only two miles, but it’s a start. My time was 21:42, which was a little faster than I anticipated. This particular event didn’t have awards for finishing first, second, etc., but rather who was closest to their estimated time. So before the race I guessed I would run it in 22:00, and was only off by 18 seconds, so I got a nice little plaque for ninth place.

Next up – the Mule Day 5K Kick. This one is going to be a lot harder. Murfreesboro (where the last race was) is generally flat, the one in Columbia is all hill, and an additional 1.1 miles to boot. If I break 30 minutes, I’ll be very happy.
