Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season… make the most of it, and remember the TRUE meaning of the holiday. It’s not being with family, or warm feelings or any of that stuff – it’s the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ!

Next issue – DIVX. I’m sure you’ve seen these commercials from Circuit City. Stay away from it like the plague! I support DVD completely – it is a great format, and is destined to replace VCR’s the way CD’s replaced vinyl and tapes. But with DIVX, you’re basically paying $400 for a Pay-Per-View machine. You get to pay $3.50 every time you want to watch the movie… how nice! You also have to make sure you have a credit card and phone jack near your TV… and I don’t have either one. Now, you can pay another $15 or so to get a movie “upgraded” to free play…. unless you want to take it to a friend’s house. Then they have to pay the $3.50 fee every time as well.

Doesn’t make much sense when you can buy DVD’s for $10-20 (which have more features to boot), and rent them for 5 days at Blockbuster for $3, does it?

Happy Easter!

Hey yo… I hope everyone had a great Easter.   Mine was all that and a basket of chocolate eggs… I’m still sick from all the cocoa and sugar…

I updated my “Personal Info” page – it’s a lot more in depth, if anyone really cares. 🙂

I saw “Good Will Hunting” Friday for the first time.  It’s a pretty good flick – makes you realize how much we underuse our potential.  Any one of us can do absolutely anything, if we just put our minds to it.   Unfortunately the movie was marred by a number of crude jokes, and way too many uses of the “F” word (176, I read somewhere).  But a good movie nonetheless.

Wednesday marks the “60 days of Ticketmaster” – they have gotten so much of my money over the past month.  Grand Funk Railroad, Audio Adrenaline, Joe Satriani, WCW Thunder, WWF Raw, and a couple more I know I’m forgetting, are all coming before the end of May.

On a totally unrelated note – is anyone else sick of hearing about the Titanic?  It was a good movie, but c’mon people – get over it!

Peace out…

Fitness Tips Part II

Spring is finally here –   Unfortunately, it took the weather a few days to realize that!

Time for Part II of my Fitness Tips! (ta da!)

Fat Burning – As this is my current focus, I’ve noticed a couple of things the media tries to sell people – you know those ab rollers and Thighmasters?  They won’t burn fat!  They might tone the muscles, but they will not get rid of the cottage cheese thighs or the spare tire waist.  You can’t “spot reduce” fat – it has to be burned off by aerobic exercise – running, cycling, stairmasters, etc.  And unfortunately, the thighs (for women) and midsection (for men) is the absolute last place that is affected.

But it is possible – the ideal is to exercise in your target heart rate zone for 30-40 minutes, 3-4 times a week.  What’s your target heart rate?  Well, it depends on your age, but a good guide is to count your pulse for 10 seconds.  If you count over 23 beats, you’re doing good.  Just make sure not to go past 30 beats per 10 seconds… unless you’re 15 and have a very fast metabolism!   An easier way to judge is to get to the point where you can talk, but you’d rather not.  Not quite to the heavy huffing and puffing stage.
